I am extremely excited to announce that Noah Maniapik is coming to MIA on May 14th to participate in some amazing activities. Born in 1961 Noah is a printmaker from Panniqtuuq (Pangnirtung) and has had works included in many of the recent annual collections, beginning in 2001.
Noah will be visiting MIA on May 14th in order to participate in a printmaking demonstration before helping visitors make their own mini-prints to take home! This is a very rare opportunity to see one of today’s amazing Inuit artists not only explain but also demonstrate his process. For those who can’t make it, we will be filming the demonstration to share via our website. The printmaking will begin at 12:30 – pre-registration is encouraged (call 416-640-1571 or e-mail info@miamuseum.ca) but walk-ins are welcomed!
In addition to this amazing event, I will be interviewing Noah for the blog on April 27th. If you have a question for him, leave it in a comment, tweet us (@miamuseum) or leave a comment on our Facebook – I’ll ask as many of those questions as I can and respond to you with the answers!
We will be releasing more details as we get closer to the event so stay tuned and mark your calendars! I cannot wait! In the next week, don’t forget to send me your questions for Noah!
