MIA visitor Ayesha A. with "Birds on Branches" (c. 1970s) by an unidentified artist from Nunavik, Stone, caribou antler, Sprott/MIA Collection

Where are you from?

Mumbai and Toronto

What brings you to MIA? Is this your first visit?

This is my first visit.

Why is this your favourite piece in the collection?

The use of antler and stone is very interesting and makes for a delicate yet clever piece. The wright of the stone seems more than that of the antler which fives it a slightly precarious feel -like it’s not very well balanced. One can draw the analogy of the threat the environment is in – a delicate balance between man and nature.
